Town of Monson
Board of Assessors
Thursday, August 20, 2009


Members Present: Chairman Russell Bressette Jr., Assessor Allan E. Curtis
Members Absent:  Assessor Craig Benoit

Principal Assessor: Ann P. Murphy
Open the Meeting:  The meeting was called to order at 11:00am.

Accept the Minutes:  A motion was made by Allan and seconded by to accept the July 9 and July 21, 2009 minutes as written.  The motion passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:  

Map fees: The Board of Assessors reviewed the request for a copy of our maps on a USB drive.  The Board stated that the current fee is $1.00 per copy per map, regardless of the format that it is copied onto (ex: paper, disk, USB drive).  It was voted to be office policy.   

Helicopter Pad:  The Principal Assessor updated the board as to the situation with the assessment of the helicopter pad.  We will ask our consultant to advise us on this item.

CJ’s Restaurant: The Principal Assessor informed the board that the Board of Health officer will be inspecting the property and reporting the findings back to the Assessors.

NEW BUSINESS:

CPA Surcharge:  A motioned was made by Allan and seconded by Russell to have the Principal Assessor log in to the CPA Surcharge report on the Gateway system to sign the report on behalf of the Assessors.  The motion passed unanimously.

Excise:  The board voted to approve and signed the following Motor Vehicle Excise Abatements:
  • 2009  in the amount of $2,258.19
  • 2008 in the amount of $194.17
Chapterland: A motion was made by Allan and seconded by Russell to release the Chapterland liens on Mr. Pelkeys’ two properties.  The motion passed unanimously.

The board was updated on all miscellaneous items


NEXT MEETING: The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2009 @ 11:00 a.m.

ADJOURN:  At 12:00 p.m, a motion was made by Allan and seconded by Russell to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously.
